Biennial festival of “Pizzo di Cantù” @ Cantù
Oct 18 @ 9:30 – 18:30

Pizzo di Cantù Lake Como traditionpizzo di cantù, also known as Pizzo al Tombolo, an important tradition of Lake Como, is handmade lace. Its name is used both for the lace itself and the instrument used to make it. Indeed, the embroiderers use a cylindrical-shaped pillow, the so-called Tombolo, as a bolster. Because of the very thin cotton thread used, Pizzo di Cantù requires a lot of skill, experience and patience. Today, Pizzo di Cantù has become increasingly popular among admirers and lovers of beautiful things to see in Lake Como.

In this exhibition totally dedicated to it, you can admire several Pizzo di Cantù works!

Fall foliage in the nineteenth century garden of the pearl of Lake Como @ Villa Melzi
Oct 18 @ 9:30 – 18:30
Fall foliage in the nineteenth century garden of the pearl of Lake Como @ Villa Melzi | Bellagio | Lombardia | Italy

From October to November visiting gardens has a very particular charm. In this period, indeed, you can admire the fall foliage, that moment when the trees offers you a wonderful show with the autumn coloring of their leaves: from yellow to brown, passing through red and orange, up to plum and purple shades, creating a bond with the decided tints of the evergreens.

Join us discovering the foliage in the marvelous gardens of Villa Melzi d’Eril, in Bellagio, the pearl of Lake Como. Leaned over the shores of Lake Como the garden offers you a stroll pleasant to the sight and to the sense of smell. Walking along the path, cradled by the tender blustering of the water, you will come across a wonderful sample of Pinus Montezuma…the stroll continues along the planes’ alley, and finishes on the terrace in front of the villa.

You can also see exotic plants, centuries old trees, majestic camellias, rhododendrons and alzaleas. Among the most precious plants are the Liriodendron tulipifera, citruses from Lebanon, red beeches, camphors, Ginko biloba and many others!

In fall, the naturestains itself with extraordinary shades of red!

Entrance fees:

  • Adults: 6,50 €
  • Groups: 5 €
  • School groups: 4 €
