Positive: The accommodation is conveniently located, right by the street, but the windows face the lake, so it’s quiet and the view is wonderful both during the day and at night. Another advantage is that you have the whole house to yourself — no one disturbs you. There are four sleeping places, which is ideal if you have two children. It’s a house that someone has lived in before, and you have the entire ground floor at your disposal. What we also really liked was that it was nice and warm. When we arrived at night, it was freezing cold, but once we turned on the heating, it warmed up within one or two hours. There are enough towels and blankets available.

Negative: Right from the entrance, you’re hit by a musty smell, which wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t mixed with the odor of mold. In the children’s bedroom and in the kitchen cupboards — which share a wall with the kids’ room — the mold smell was so strong that by the end of the holiday we were all constantly sneezing. Because of that, we only came into the room at night to sleep. I found it a sign of great stinginess and lack of respect for guests that there was no toilet paper or soap provided. There were only two leftover toilet paper rolls, probably from previous guests, which ran out on Sunday. We had to search through our bags and car for tissues until Monday, when we bought our own. Luckily, we happened to have some soap with us. We believe that when you rent out a place, it should be brought to a certain standard — not filled with all the old, used things left behind by previous owners. It’s true that not all guests take good care of a property, and some behave as if they lived in the woods, but still — the house definitely needs to be renovated inside and properly treated for mold before being rented out again.
