Summary: The apartment itself is beautiful with a stunning view, and walkable to the water. It's clean and bright, and in an area of Como that has a lot of local culture ... I do want to highlight that it may have been an oversight on my part, but this place is NOT walkable for the elderly, or people who do not have a strong sense of fitness. In the summer it gets very hot, and you will have to walk down 300 Italian seaside steps, which was difficult for me even as a fit person. I wouldn't plan to bring your older parents, or grandparents here. The staff was also unavailable to assist with luggage, nor had recommendations of local help. I found this strange, as a simple Google search led me to a service that assisted us. There was no way to bring the luggage upwards, and it took more than an hour when going down.
Deriva is a beautiful apartment for light luggage, and sense of fitness for any short or long-term stay. The views are beautiful. There is no complaint, only that in the reviews I was unaware of the hike to go to it, and I just want to inform others so they are aware as well. Thanks.
