Summary: Although a car was recommended for this property we came by public transport (train,bus) and prospective tenants should know it is difficult to get down to the lake by bus (just 3 a day at odd hours), even though not far away. Tignale is a series of small picturesque villages up a steep windy road ideal for walkers and nature lovers; ours was very charming and friendly, and we enjoyed our week's stay among fabulous and lush mountain scenery! Mr Maffei and his assistant, Monica, were extremely kind and helpful! We also appreciated the bottle of wine on arrival! The apartment is modern yet charismatically converted with lots of wood and a great bathroom. We thought it excellent value with free internet access and all you need for a comfortable stay. (We are a family of 5 with older children, but Monica brought us an extra bed). There is a public pool in the village, 1 small shop, a children's play area, horse riding, and maybe 2 restaurants. We also recommend Lily's cafe just round the corner, and she will make you a fabulous home cooked meal with wine if you ask a day ahead. You can walk 2 km to the next larger village for a supermarket and more facilities. All in all, we liked it very much but will bring/rent a car next time. Many thanks to our kind host and Monica!
